God is just like Jesus

This is the best presentation of the true nature of God that I have seen or heard.  You can hear Brian Zahnd minister more at www.wolc.com.  He is one of the best communicators of the gospel today.

i watched it again with ro. if he were simply presenting the fact that "he who has seen ME has seen the FATHER" i have no quarrel with it...my problem is that he is putting a twist on the actions and words of Jesus that i do not think is Biblically accurate - or not COMPLETELY accurate. the love of God is HUGE and real and amazing - but His wrath is just as real - the book of revelation is filled with references to the wrath of God on men that did not repent...since HE does not change, that wrath has ALWAYS been there, as well as His great love. i do not ever see it as "pitting Christ against God" and truly think he is doing some twisting of the facts with this. God CRUSHED Christ - that is what it says in Isaiah - that it pleased Him to crush His son - out of His great love for us?? absolutely - but, also because of His great justice - you do NOT have one without the other. also, concerning the "Father, forgive them", when you look at that in context it seems clear to me that the LORD is talking about the roman soldiers that were crucifying him and dividing up His garments - THEY did NOT know or understand all that was taking place and He had mercy on them. do i think He forgave the Jewish leaders that DID have knowledge of the truth and put Him there? no, i do not. not unless they later repented. the scriptures tell us over and over that we MUST repent to be forgiven - as for the paralyzed man Jesus healed - i have no doubt that He clearly saw this man's heart and knew he was repentant, as well as the man with the demons - God alone knows the thoughts and intents of a man's heart. i always remember with the woman caught in adultery that He did tell her to go and sin no more - He offered her forgivenss - but He required repentance from her, too. and the scriptures do not say that He knelt down beside her - they say He bent down and began to write something in the dirt. that may seem a small thing, but i have a problem with people that "rearrange" the Word of God to suit their purposes. did God love all these people - YES HE DID!! but, i fear this presentation of the gospel almost makes it seem like that is the end of the story - just like "love wins" by rob bell - that God's love is going to just cover everybody and no one will be sent to hell. i know he didn't actually say that, but it seemed he was edging close. i'm not expecting you to post this comment, michael. i'm really just writing it to you. i asked ro to listen to it because i thought perhaps i was missing something, but, he felt the same way - there was something one sided about this message. anyway, as i said, i have no problem with the GREAT AND INCREDIBLE love of Jesus Christ AND the Father - but, there is also wrath and there is judgment in BOTH of them. in Revelation 14 it speaks of the torment in hell and that the Holy angels and the LAMB will be there to witness it - the wrath of God will be poured out and the Lamb (Jesus) will be there, not just the Father.....
